Happy New Year!

The calendar has turned to yet another new year. We have before us 365 fresh days, a complete blank slate on which we will draw, write and map our lives.

What are your hopes and dreams for this new year? My hope and wish for you is that you'll not waste or squander any of the precious moments you have been given. Time is a sweet and rich gift from the Universe, one we should never, ever take for granted because at any moment, without warning, it can be taken away.

There are two quotes I'd like to open this new year with. Post below in the comments your thoughts on each.

“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in.
A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”
Bill Vaughn, American columnist, (b. 1915;  d. 1977)

As we begin this new year that is 2014, which side of that equation did you fall on?

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity
and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”
Edith Lovejoy Pierce, English poet (b.1904; d: 1983)

How are you opening your first chapter?
